Floor Stripping & Waxing in Calgary

Floors that look new, and stay protected.

Floor stripping and waxing removes the old, worn finish from a resilient floor and lays down fresh coats of sealer and finish. NorthPeak Developments Inc. strips and refinishes VCT, vinyl and other resilient commercial floors across Calgary, working after hours or overnight so your business is not disrupted.

Between full refinishes we scrub-and-recoat and burnish on a schedule, which keeps the shine up and pushes the next full strip further out. Floor care can be booked on its own or built into your janitorial contract at a fixed price.

What Does Floor Stripping and Waxing Include?

The steps in a full strip-and-refinish. Periodic maintenance between refinishes is listed last.

Floors We Strip and Refinish

Strip-and-wax applies to resilient floors that take a floor finish:

  • VCT (vinyl composition tile) in schools, offices and retail
  • Sheet vinyl and LVT where the manufacturer allows finish
  • Corridors, cafeterias and gymnasium surrounds
  • Clinic and dental office floors
  • Dealership service-area offices and customer areas

How Often Should Floors Be Stripped and Waxed?

It depends on traffic. Busy entrances and corridors may need a full strip and refinish once or twice a year, while lighter areas can go longer with regular burnishing and scrub-and-recoat. After a walk-through we set a schedule that matches how your floors are actually used.

Calgary winters speed up wear: salt and grit grind into finish near entrances, so those zones usually need more frequent attention.

After Hours, With Minimal Disruption

Full refinishes need time for coats to dry, so we work overnight, on weekends or during closures such as school breaks. Areas are closed off with signage until the floor is safe to walk on.

Bonded, Insured and Supervised

Crews are background-checked, WHMIS-trained and WCB-covered. NorthPeak is bonded and insured, and a supervisor inspects completed floors before sign-off.

How Floor Stripping and Waxing Is Priced

Pricing depends on square footage, the floor's current condition and number of old coats, how much furniture needs moving, and access hours. One-time refinishes are quoted per job; ongoing burnishing and scrub-and-recoat can be added to a janitorial contract at a fixed monthly price. See what drives commercial cleaning cost in Calgary.

FAQ

Floor Stripping & Waxing Questions

What is the difference between stripping and waxing and buffing?

Stripping removes all of the old finish down to the tile, then new sealer and finish are applied. Buffing or burnishing only polishes the existing top coat to bring back shine. Burnishing is regular maintenance; stripping is a periodic reset.

How long does floor stripping and waxing take?

Most commercial areas are done in one night or one weekend, depending on square footage and drying time between coats. We plan the work so the floor is ready before you reopen.

Can you strip and wax floors after hours?

Yes. Floor refinishing is normally done overnight or on weekends to avoid disrupting your business.

How often should commercial floors be waxed?

High-traffic areas often need a full strip and refinish once or twice a year, with burnishing and scrub-and-recoat in between. Lighter areas can go longer.

Do you do floor care outside Calgary?

Yes. We serve Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane, Okotoks and Strathmore as well as Calgary.
